Over 30 independent physicians, practice administrators and advisors attended the first Independent Healthcare Advisors (IHA) breakfast seminar at Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek in Waukesha on April 20, 2016. IHA was created to mimic the already successful IPA (Independent Physician Advisors) group that ebix is a member of out of Chicago. “We wanted to replicate our shared learning and advisory board for independent physicians in the Greater Milwaukee Area since we’ve seen such a positive response over the last five years in Chicagoland,” stated Brian Nelson, President of ebix, Inc.

The presentation, Healthcare Data Breaches & Cyber Risks: Preparing for the Inevitable, was lead by Carla Borda from R&R Insurance Services, Inc. Borda discussed threats physician practices face, how to prepare and respond to those threats, and how to use insurance to offset the financial impact of a data breach or network attack.

The goal of IHA is to improve core business operations for independent healthcare providers through shared learning and support.
